Look around,
Could it bring somebody down
If I never made a sound again?
- “Who Sucked Out the Feeling” by Superdrag
Of course it would, Superdrag. Stop fishing for compliments and go back on tour with all four original members, already. Oh, you’ve already planned it? Good!
That’s right, power-pop addicts and anyone vaguely nostalgic for '90s radio singles by otherwise underrated bands. Superdrag has scheduled six performances hither and thither on the eastern half of the country in October and November.
For those too young to remember the group, since apparently you people can read now, Superdrag formed in 1993 with John Davis on guitar and vocals, Don Coffey Jr. on drums, Brandon Fisher on guitar and Tom Pappas on the bigger guitar with only four strings, called the bass. Its most notable albums were Regretfully Yours in 1996, which contained the above quoted hit, and Head Trip in Every Key, which contained a whole lotta orchestrated stuff.
They split up just four years ago, but have a solid, practical reason for a quick reunion. Arena Rock released a collection of Superdrag b-sides and rarities in April, titled Changin’ Tires on the Road to Ruin.
The schedule:
October:
5 - Nashville, Tenn. @ City Hall
13 - Chicago, Ill. @ Metro
20 - Knoxville, Tenn. @ Barley’s Tap Room
November:
2 - New York, N.Y. @ The Fillmore
3 - Boston, Mass. @ Paradise Rock Club
8 - Washington, D.C. @ Nightclub 9:30
