After this summer, Brooklyn’s Coney Island will undergo a $1.5 billion transformation from a boardwalk of cheap thrills and chili dogs to an “upscale techno theme park” surrounded by retail stores and high rises. Among the good-time events going down before the gentrification begins is the annual Village Voice Siren Fest, where buzz band White Rabbits will play alongside established rockers like New York Dolls and M.I.A. Not bad for a group that’s only been in New York City for slightly more than a year.
Afterward, the six-piece will head out on a modest and primarily Midwestern August tour. White Rabbits debut album, Fort Nightly, was released in May by Say Hey Records and produced by Chris Zane (Calls, Les Savy Fav).
