The Golden Compass, the first film adaptation of Philip Pullman’s award winning His Dark Materials trilogy, is set to hit screens on December 7 and thank Comic Con the extended trailer has finally been released. With warrior bears, witches, nefarious experiments enforced by a mysterious organization, a headstrong kid-heroin named Lyra and the telltale golden script that seems to plague the children’s fantasy genre, the film is all set to be the adventure of the winter. Did I mention Nicole Kidman and Daniel Craig also star?
At 432 pages, Philip Pullman’s novel The Golden Compass is chump change compared to Herculean wordplay of Harry Potter’s final bow. So for those of you in the dark about His Dark Materials, run to your nearest bookstore, slip into the children’s section and pretend you’re buying it for your nephew— cause come December you’re going to want to know what happens.
