Dave Eggers benefits exact revenge

Live Earth was an ambitious benefit, wasn't it? Few non-superheros set out to save the world. At least Dave Eggers is setting the bar to a manageable limbo height with Revenge of the Book Eaters, a benefit to save, well, the literary world.

The New York performance—scheduled for August 26 at the Beacon—will feature Grizzly Bear, Jim James (from My Morning Jacket), A.C. Newman and Britt Daniel (from Spoon). Comedian Demetri Martin will host, and the lovely Feist will read.

And if you’re feeling generous, Eugene Mirman, Eggers and Kevin Barnes and Bryan Poole (from Of Montreal) will lead Boston’s Revenge on September 26 at the Berklee Performance Center.

The shows benefit Eggers’ project 826 National, a non-profit organization dedicated to support kids’ and teens’ creative and expository writing skills.

Last year David Byrne blogged about his performance for 826NYC. Read about his and Sufjan's shenanigans here.
