Lee Hazlewood dies at 78

Country singer, songwriter and producer Lee Hazlewood died this past Saturday at his home near Las Vegas after a three-year struggle with cancer. Hazlewood, who turned 78 in July, is perhaps most famous for writing and producing Nancy Sinatra’s “These Boots Were Made For Walking,” but his career spanned more than half a century of solo work and collaborations with the likes of Gram Parsons, Dean Martin an Duane Eddy. According to BBC.com, contemporary admirers of Hazlewood include Belle and Sebastian, Nick Cave and Lambchop. He released his final record, Cake or Death (named after the Eddie Izzard routine) late last year.
