Among the five hours of sight and sound that Magnolia Electric Co. releases tomorrow inside quaint wooden boxes is The Road Becomes What You Leave, a DVD of self-proclaimed “lonely” tour footage directed by Todd Chandler and Tim Sutton. If you want a piece of that sad action right now, check out the band’s new video for “A Little at a Time."
It’s tour footage, alright -- traffic, city lights, impending storms, fallow fields and all. The subjective degree of inherent loneliness is up to individual discretion, depending primarily on one’s positive v. negative associations with Canadian prairie lands.
The song is from The Black Ram, one of four albums included in the box set (which, itself, is titled Sojourner). Magnolia Electric Co. go back on tour from the end of August to November, so thankfully, the road must not be too unbearable.
