In the same year of Elvis Presley’s demise (three decades ago this week), New York City photographer Eugene Merinov – 25 at the time – began documenting his hometown's punk (and later, post-punk) apex. From Sept. 19 to Dec. 12 at NYC's Etherea Records, Merinov will exhibit his late '70s/early '80s rock photography, featuring great black and white shots of Gang of Four, Bauhaus, the Ramones and Wire. On the off chance that you were hanging around clubs like CBGB, Dancetaria and Hurrah at the time, perhaps you’ll recognize yourself in his shots of folks milling about. Nice pants on those ladies.
