Gradually more reliable reports have been coming in since yesterday about the hospitalization of Owen Wilson. What was first thought to be merely the speculation of the National Enquirer and Star seems to carry at least a bit of truth.
Yesterday (Aug. 26) an ambulance arrived at Owen Wilson's house and picked him up. Almost immediately, tabloids grabbed story and reported that Wilson had swallowed a bottle of pills and slit his left wrist, though this remains speculation at best. A report from the somewhat more credible Entertainment Tonight said that Wilson was brought to Beverly Hills' Cedars-Sinai Hospital where he detoxed after suffering from dehydration. His family was also reportedly at the hospital.
The only official word about what happened comes from Wilson's publicist relaying a message from the actor, who said, "I respectfully ask that the media allow me to receive care and heal in private during this difficult time." The publicist also added that no more word should be expected from Wilson. The actor was in the middle of filming for Ben Stiller's Tropic Thunder, and what will happen with that production is also unknown.
Paste hopes for a swift recovery for Wilson and his family.
