Philadelphia Hi-Fi festival continues this week

The Paste-sponsored Beta Hi-Fi Festival, showcasing the region’s best local musicians and emerging talents, kicked off Sunday night at Phidadelphia’s Wold Café Live. The city’s artists are diverse enough for each night to be centered on a different genre, so apples can be compared to other, musically inclined apples during battle of the bands competitions. Nightly winners will compete against each other in an ultimate Hi-Fi festival smackdown this Saturday, with the champion scoring a track on an upcoming Paste sampler. Check out last year’s winner, Melody Gardot.

Festival schedule (see here for a list of battle participants):

August
22 - Grimace Federation, Beans, Red Rocket and Orbit to Leslie
23 - Y-rock Welcomes Ike, The Pawnshop Roses, The Kin
24 - Tara Girl with the Burndown All Stars, Natural Selection
25 - Y-Rock Welcomes Ruder than You, Trumystic, The Smiles Project, Solomonic Sound System
