The Sundance Channel aired Robyn Hitchcock documentary Sex, Food, Death … & Insects over the weekend, with two more showings on Monday and Friday of next week. Directed by John Edginton, whose past work includes The Pink Floyd and Syd Barret Story and Mumia Abu-Jamal: A Case for Reasonable Doubt, the film has a look-see into Hitchcock and the Venus 3 (REM’s Peter Buck, Scott McCaughey and Bill Rieflin) recording new material in London and delivering live jams to Hoboken and Seattle.
Here are a few clips on YouTube, featuring floral prints and pop-up factoids galore.
A Robyn Hitchcock box set, called I Wanna Go Backwards, premiers October 16 and includes expanded editions of three major albums and a compilation of b-sides, outtakes and home demos. Plus, you can check out an excerpt from his novel in progress, and maybe mail it to his publicist with stuffy editorial suggestions in the margins.
