The Hold Steady and Art Brut form a tour

The words "rock 'n' roll" and "riot" bring a few unpleasant memories to mind. Woodstock at the turn of the century, for starters. The Rolling Stones' Altamont performance in their heyday. Anything that's ever appeared in any of VH1's specials.

But rock talkers the Hold Steady and Art Brut are keen on pleasantly rioting and hip-swiveling cross-country on their NME Rock 'N' Roll Riot Tour 2007. Since last year's release of Boys and Girls in America, the Hold Steady has played almost 300 shows.
