The Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences announced today that Jon Stewart will be returning for another round of hosting with the Oscars. The show celebrating 2007's films will take place on Feb. 24 at the Kodak Theatre for the 80th annual self congratulal-a-thon.
Stewart last hosted the ceremony in 2006 where he received middling reviews despite being one of the funniest hosts in the past... well, ever. The Associated Press reports that Oscar producer Gil Cates described Stewart as a good host because he's "smart, quick, funny, loves movies and is a great guy.". And based upon such qualifications, I will in fact be there to host the show come 2009.
Stewart merely commented that he is "thrilled to be asked to host the Academy Awards for the second time because, as they say, the third time's a charm."
