After assisting in the development of Led Zeppelin – The Ride, a 150-foot-tall rollercoaster timed to “Whole Lotta Love” that developers say will be “an adrenaline rush rivaled only by a live Led Zeppelin concert,” Jimmy Page, Robert Plant and John Paul Jones are (supposedly) ready to re-set the intensity standards with a reunion concert later this year.
According to NME.com, a fan who bumped into Plant in London earlier today inquired about the possibility of a reunion, to which Plant responded, “How did you find out about this?” He then added that a band meeting would occur later in the afternoon, but “there’s not a lot to work out as it’s only going to be one-off gig.”
Admittedly, this doesn't quite sound like MI5-quality intelligence, but NME is right certain the show will take place in November at London’s O2 Arena. Meanwhile, Led Zeppelin – The Ride opens sometime next spring as the main attraction of Hard Rock Park in Myrtle Beach, S.C. Someone with a couple thousand dollars to burn, please compare and contrast the frenzied pinnacles of each.
Pre-judgment: Although the coaster has the bonus of John Bonham’s drumming, albeit in pre-recorded format, repeat rides may leave one – wait for it – dazed and confused, splattering the pavement with physical graffiti.
If neither spectacle is affordable for you, there's the enduring power of albums and moving pictures, or "talkies." November brings a best-of compilation titled Mothership, along with a new DVD of The Song Remains the Same and a re-issued soundtrack.
