Led Zeppelin to release retrospective CD and DVD

Come this November, Led Zeppelin fans are going to have plenty to be thankful for - you know, besides roasted turkey and sweet potatoes with the little marshmallows on top.

The classic rock group will release Mothership - a two-CD collection of 24 songs taken from all eight of the band's studio albums - on Nov. 13. According to the Rhino Entertainment (the lovely folks putting this out), Jimmy Page, Robert Plant and John Paul Jones personally selected the songs on the compilation, choosing which ones best represented an overview of the band's entire career. The release rides the coattails of the band's announcement to reunite for one night only for a fund raising benefit dedicated to the recently deceased Ahmet Ertegun, founder of Atlantic Records and catalyst to the meteoric rise of Led Zeppelin's popularity over the years.

Like pouring hot gravy on our side of stuffing, the band also announced the Nov. 20 release of The Song Remains the Same, a concert DVD covering a three-nighter series of gigs at New York venue Madison Square Garden in 1973. ALSO with the DVD comes the soundtrack to the DVD, a reissue that the band oversaw the mixing and remastering of.
