A full 30 years after his death, it's very easy to remain obsessed with Marc Bolan - and with good reason. As the genius behind T. Rex, Bolan took the combination of sexy guitar riffs and oft-silly lyrics and proved it could be the single most coolest thing ever. Luckily, despite his unfortunate death in 1977, the interwebs preserve glam rock's corkscrew-haired legend, and those of us unlucky enough to miss out on his life can watch him rocking out in a video with Elton John, being skinny in a photo with David Bowie or even morphing in a a sort-of creepy, impossible-not-to-watch, um, thing, on a fan site.
Luckier still for those of us breathing right now is all the T. Rex material being reissued in honor of his memory (both the anniversary of his death and his birthday, which fell just two weeks after he died). The Demon Music Group will release a series of singles and albums in digital download and vinyl format. Additionally, the label will reissue a double-disc and three-disc set of reissues that combined include acoustic tracks, home demos, rarities, exclusives and almost certainly heaps, piles and loads of awesome. In total, well over 100 songs. That's right, ladies and gents: A whole lotta Bolan. Have a look at Demon's "T. Rex range" for even more.
And for those of you for whom the sweet, seductive sound of music simply isn't lecherous enough, there are a couple T. Rex documentaries in the works, one of which reports that the young Bolan started having sex at nine years of age. Bang a gong, get it on, indeed. On that note...
