Terry Zwigoff and Dan Clowes worth $40,000

Terry Zwigoff and Dan Clowes are collaborating again on The $40,000 Man, a spiritual heir of The Six Million Dollar Man with an easily deducible difference. The story in a sentence is that an astronaut is maimed in a crash but this time the government only spots $40,000 to help repair him.

As well as Zwigoff directing the film, he will be rewriting the original script with the comic writer Clowes, who he's collaborated with on some fashion for two previous films (Ghost World and Art School Confidential). The sensibilities of Zwigoff's previous films, where dysfunctional characters interact with even worse worlds, seems like a perfect fit for this project.
