The B section of the newspaper, typically reserved for local affairs like work sessions on zoning and the Garden Club meetings gone wild, ought to rededicate itself to Bruce. Springsteen, that is, for The Boss is making far too many headlines for one weekly Arts & Entertainment supplement these days. The centerpiece: as his new album Magic tops international charts, word on the Billboard is that a few E-street strays that “didn’t quite fit” with the Magic tracks might find themselves on a new album relatively soon.
Editorials in the B(ruce) pages would feature cleverly-titled, ill-advised rants like “Bruce Springsteen’s Magic is an Illusion,” coming down hard on the politically charged nature of the record and his recent comments on 60 Minutes against wire-tapping and suspension of habeus corpus. Accompanying would be an appropriate comic likening the singer to David Copperfield.
On the business page would be this deal-turned-sour story about a lawsuit against Springsteen claiming he backed out of buying a horse worth almost $1 million dollars for his daughter. We assume this animal comes with a gold chariot with 20 inch rims and a built-in plasma TV or something.
Finally, the feature story with a touching anecdotal lede would cover Springsteen’s donation of front seat tickets to all his shows to the charities Musicians on Call and The Kristen Ann Carr Fund. Said feature would be located right here, complete with more information.
Of course, apparently no one reads newspapers anymore and that’s why we have mediums like this. Think about how beautiful it would have been in theory, as you click the related links below.
