Caetano Veloso to tour North America

Caetano Veloso to tour North America

Caetano Veloso, the 65-year-old Brazillian music dynamo famous for fusing together more traditional South American sounds with a newer Bossa Nova spin, has announced a rare North American tour.

A prolific artist that has released dozens of his own albums over his 40-plus-year career, the Bahian-born Veloso is internationally acclaimed, the All Music Guide calling him "on par with that of Bob Dylan, Bob Marley and Lennon/McCartney." Politically active and hardly bashful in expressing his views/speaking out against a militaristic state, Veloso has used his music as a platform to proliferate his message against the dictatorial regime controlling Brazil since 1964. His talents spread into the realms of filmmaking and poetry as well, and he is accredited with the introduction/popularization of the musical style Tropicalia.
