Darren Aronofsky directing The Wrestler

No, this isn't an update to our earlier report that Aronofsky was working on The Fighter with Brad Pitt and Mark Wahlberg. It turns out that Aronofsky just really needs help in naming things these days, otherwise he ends up with a definite article + noun construction that doesn't lend much to the imagination, like the titles of his two current projects.

Screenwriter Robert Siegel has been working on The Fighter, which was picked up by Aronofsky's Protozoa Pictures and is now set to be directed by the man himself. According to ComingSoon.net, the film is about a wrestler in the 1980s, Randy "The Ram" Robinson, rendered unable to fight due to a heart attack until a rematch with an old rival brings him back to the ring. The film is set to begin filming on January 7 with The Fighter going into production right afterwards.
