Follow White Rabbits on rescheduled tour

First of all, a bit of autobiography. When I was attending the University of Missouri in Columbia, Mo., I was dimly aware of this group called White Rabbits. They had some good buzz behind them, but really hadn't done anything to set themselves apart from the other mainstays of the Columbia scene, bands like Mahjongg, Kingdom Flying Club, Witch's Hat, Warhammer 48K, John Henry & The Engine, and the Foundry Field Recordings. Then White Rabbits moved to Brooklyn, and we Columbians wished 'em well. I had never gotten the chance to see the group live.

Over the next few months, something happened. While incubating under the harsh alley lights of the NYC, White Rabbits got good. Really good. The fawning reviews for the group's debut Fort Nightly started pouring in. And then David Letterman came calling. Their turn as Paste's Band of the Week proved to be the exclamation point on a whirlwind year for the six-piece. And I still haven’t seen the band live.

After its scheduled tour with Kaiser Chiefs fell through, it looked like the band was grounded for the duration of the fall. But thankfully, it appears that White Rabbits are taking to the road as headliners of their own road show. Don't they deserve it, after all? Still, considering that they'll be sharing the stage with groups like Tokyo Police Club, Datarock, and the Pogues (!), maybe those bunnymen will have to take the backseat on some nights.
