Jesu issues new EP, traverses the globe

| | Comments (0)

Justin Broadrick was once the man behind metal/industrial bands like Napalm Death and Godflesh, a pair of acts with abrasive, confrontational sounds to match their names. That decidedly atonal past makes his new project Jesu all the more remarkable: a longtime rejector of melody, Broadrick must have had a conversion experience at some point between his retirement of Godflesh and the miraculous rise of Jesu. Painting his compositions with long, languid guitar strokes, Broadrick now works with a much different palette than his younger, speed-metal days.

Broadrick and his Jesu cohorts are just hitting the road for a lengthy tour that will snake through North America, the UK, Japan, and then Continental Europe by the end of the year. On Oct. 23, the group will drop Lifeline, a new four-song EP via Hydra Head. It's a speedy follow-up to the group's latest full-length, Conqueror, which came out earlier this year.

Here's the track list:

1. Lifeline
2. You Wear Their Masks
3. Storm Comin' On
4. End of the Road
