It used to be that Joe Jackson seemed to rush into every album with something to prove. His edgy, "angry young man" period produced a flood of releases over the first few years of his career. Nowadays, however, Jackson has scaled back the deluge to a light drizzle.
"I used to be a bit of a workaholic, but I am now much more patient," Jackson said via a press release. "The quantity has gone down, but the quality has gone up."
That approach bodes well for his new album, Rain, which arrives in stores Jan. 29 through Rykodisc. The sessions featured Jackson's longtime rhythm section of Graham Maby (bass) and Dave Houghton (drums). Recorded in Berlin, the set once again encompasses Jackson's range of styles, from pop and rock to jazz and classical. Fan site The Joe Jackson Archive posted the following track list for Rain:
1. Invisible Man
2. Too Tough
3. Citizen Sane
4. Wasted Time
5. The Uptown Train
6. King Pleasure Time
7. Solo (So Low)
8. Rush Across The Road
9. Good Bad Boy
10. A Place In The Rain
A tour should follow the album's release. The only two dates confirmed so far are a pair of shows in Amsterdam, March 7 and 8. Those are up for pre-sale, but only if you happen to be a "JJ list" member. Look sharp for more tour dates at JoeJackson.com.
