Led Zeppelin catalog goes digital

At this point, it appears that no one can hold out on the digital music revolution any longer. The Beatles' solo projects caved one by one. Now it's time for Led Zeppelin to take some of that cooked-up black magic mysticism out of its music by putting it online.

On Nov. 13, the entire Led Zeppelin library - from its eponymous debut through 1982's Coda and live compilation How The West Was Won - will hit "all online music retailers," as per a press release. On the same day, the group's big ol' career retrospective Mothership will descend from the stars, arriving in stores physical and digital alike. Fans will also be able to add Led Zeppelin songs as ringtones, of course meaning that every dude in your office is soon going to have the opening bars to "Stairway to Heaven" as his ringer.

"We are pleased that the complete Led Zeppelin catalog will now be available digitally," said riff-interpolator extraordinaire Jimmy Page. "The addition of the digital option will better enable fans to obtain our music in whichever manner that they prefer."

Man... does that guy just talk in soundbites, or what?

As previously reported, the distinguished Zeppelin will hit the O2 Arena on Nov. 26 for a one-off reunion gig. The late John Bonham's son Jason will take over on the drums. Want a safe bet? Expect a DVD release of the show just in time for Christmas 2008.
