Radiohead signs with XL for In Rainbows distribution

Radiohead. We've spoken, typed, and thought that one band name so much throughout the month of October that it has ceased to have meaning. What is a Radiohead, anyway? I mean, have you ever really thought about it?

Ponder that, and ponder this: Radiohead's digital opus In Rainbows will receive physical distribution outside of North America courtesy of XL Recordings. Thom Yorke's solo debut, The Eraser, went out on XL last year. Evidently, Yorke enjoyed working with those folks. As Billboard.com reports it, there's no word yet on a release date for the In Rainbows CD, but it will most likely coincide with the Dec. 3 release of the ultra-luxurious "discbox" edition of the album. The band also hasn't yet found a U.S. distributor, but the rumor mill points to Dave Matthews-founded ATO Records and its subsidiary, Side One Recordings.

When any word breaks on that front, we'll have another Radiohead news item for you. Who can get enough of this band, really?

Additionally, the Billboard story quotes the band's manager Bryce Edge as saying that a previous report on the album selling over one million digital copies was "exaggerated." Hmm... maybe, Mr. Edge, you could help clarify things by releasing the actual sales numbers for the inquiring minds out there?
