Beasties, R.E.M., The Roots headline Langerado Festival

| | Comments (0)

Categories:

Back when the Langerado Music Festival announced that it would be conscientiously partying down on a Seminole Indian reservation, we were a bit skeptical. Now, having witnessed the bizarre, Dust Bowl-esque experience of the "environmentally friendly" Echo Project on our home turf, we're really starting to worry about how the Florida Everglades will tolerate a show of Langerado's magnitude. However, this is the sixth year of Langerado, so hopefully the organizers will be on their game to keep the litterbugs and chemical spillers in check.

One thing that's not in doubt about Langerado '08, though: this lineup is ridiculously deep. Since it's often hard to scroll through paragraphs looking for your favorite acts on the bill, we've divvied up the lineup into various semi-arbitrary categories. Whatever your taste, there's probably something for you in this musical murderers' row:

Let's Rock!
R.E.M.
The National
Built To Spill
The Walkmen
Vampire Weekend
Earl Greyhound
Blitzen Trapper
Shout Out Louds
Minus The Bear
Dr. Dog
State Radio

Let's Rhyme!
Beastie Boys
The Roots
Arrested Development
Ozomatli
Busdriver

Let's Jam!
Phil Lesh & Friends
Gov't Mule
Les Claypool
Funky Meters
Dark Star Orchestra
Medeski, Scofield, Martin & Wood
Umphrey's McGee
The Disco Biscuits

Let's Dance!
!!!
Of Montreal
Dan Deacon
Ghostland Observatory

Let's Sing & Songwrite!
Ani DiFranco
Ben Folds
Josh Ritter
Citizen Cope

Let's Bluegrass!
Sam Bush
The Avett Brothers

Let's Reggae!
The Wailers
Sierra Leone's Refugee All Stars

Let's Bastardize Reggae!
311
Matisyahu

And finally... under "let's reunite without our frontman": Blind Melon.

Good luck seeing all of that should you be fortunate enough to attend. The festival runs March 6-9, and tickets go on sale this Friday, starting at $169.50 for a full four-day pass. Visit the festival's website for the complete lineup, information on tickets, travel arrangements and the rundown on just what makes this festival so much greener than the rest.
