The Associated Press reports that country singer/songwriter Rosanne Cash has canceled the remaining dates on her current tour in order to undergo brain surgery. Thankfully, her manager Danny Kahn describes the condition as "benign" and the surgery as "elective."
Cash's label Manhattan Records announced her setback earlier this week. She should, however make a full recovery and resume touring in the spring. Kahn told the AP that Cash has been diagnosed with chiari type I malformation. According to the University of Missouri's health program, this congenital disorder essentially entails a misplaced brain stem, which puts pressure on the brain and spinal cord.
As detailed in one of Paste's previous features on her, Cash also overcame a two-year struggle with vocal polyps that prevented her from singing or speaking. The eldest daughter of Johnny Cash seems to have inherited her father's resiliency, and Paste wishes her a full and speedy recovery.
