Even though you may not know who Sam Jones is, chances are you have seen his work. The noted photographer/filmmaker has collaborated with the best of the best, snapping shots of legends like Robert DeNiro, Steve Martin and Jack Nicholson. Jones is also the director responsible for splendid Wilco documentary I Am Trying to Break Your Heart.
Now, the artist with the gifted eye has compiled over 100 of his celebrity focused photographs for his new book The Here and Now: The Photography of Sam Jones. Jones captures his muses in a wide range of poses and scenarios, displaying everything from a dirt-covered Matt Damon, to a bubble bath-clad Will Ferrell, to a pregnantly glowing Tori Amos. The book also includes photos of Joe Strummer, Aimee Mann, Johnny Ramone, Martin Scorsese, Renee Zellweger, Jeff Tweedy and more, brilliantly capturing the vulnerability as well as humanity of each public figure. Jones even got George Clooney to write the forward to the book. The actor is as well featured on the cover of the photo collection.
Here and Now went on sale Oct. 30. To purchase this timeless collection of photography, get thyself to thy indie book retailer, or check the Harper Collins website.
