Ripples from the WGA strike that started Sunday are already developing. You may have noticed reruns for The Daily Show and Colbert Report last night, which will apparently be pretty standard for a while. The first of possible long-term effects, aside from the nation's youth no longer getting its news coverage, has started to trickle in though, as news has hit that Scrubs may not be able to finish its series the way the writers planned.
Scrubs has been close to cancellation for years, so finally the show's makers have decided to end things themselves in the way they see fit. Except they can't, because the final six episodes remain unwritten and will be that way until the strike ceases. "On a personal level, yeah, it would be nice to finish work on 'Scrubs' the way I wanted to," producer Bill Lawrence told The Hollywood Reporter. "That it looks like it's not happening is certainly disappointing, I can't lie. But it's also not the end of the world. The last thing anybody wants to hear right now is some idiot saying, 'Hey, I worked really hard on my show, I want to end it the way I want to end it!' It's hard to care right now about any legacy."
Most shows attempted to stockpile episodes as the strike became closer, but as time goes on we'll likely see more instances of the same thing. And how will we know what's going on in the Colbert/Doritos campaign for the presidency?
