MC Hammer’s second album was entitled Please Hammer Don’t Hurt ‘Em, and now, it seems that the “‘Em” in question may refer to YouTube and other video sharing websites. That’s because Hammer’s got a new life as an Internet guru.
Hammer once took America by storm, but now, he’s about to hit Silicon Valley as a co-founder and chief strategy officer of DanceJam.com. The site will let individuals share and watch dance videos, and it hopes to become for dancing what YouTube has become for cute pets and bizarre talents.
But can MC Hammer really make the leap from awesome dance inventor to media entrepreneur? The legend has no doubts in his abilities: he told the Associated Press that “there is no high-tech lingo or business strategy that you can talk that is above my head. I breathe this stuff.”
