You probably didn’t hear about a little film called Cloverfield, which was released in January. It was but a blip in the public consciousness, and it certainly did not break any box office records.
Which is why it’s hard to believe that Paramount, a movie studio full of intelligent accountants and businessmen, would embark on something so daring as a sequel to Cloverfield. After all, if no one saw the first one, why would the next one be a more bankable commodity?
Well, it must be a bold, audacious bunch over at Paramount, because the studio is already in early talks with director Matt Reeves to work on the sequel, Variety reports. The project may be the next for Reeves, unless he directs The Invisible Woman first. We here at Paste wish he and Paramount the best of luck with this risky, ambitious endeavor.
