Idle-y Warship Res and Talib Kweli's new group

| | Comments (0)

Where would the music world be without a little website called MySpace? It's hard to imagine now what life was like before artists (and their publicity people) had the freedom and control to announce their upcoming projects and tours through one outlet on the Internet.

Recently, the social networking site enabled hungry masses of adoring fans to quickly learn about a new collaboration between Philly songstress Res and not-so-underground hip-hopper Talib Kweli. (Really, once you collaborate with Kanye West, can you really still claim to be part of the underground world?)

First brought to the public eye via a live performance at a New Year's Eve party in NYC, Res announced the group's official existence a mere three days later on her MySpace blog. Word quickly spread across the Internet, officially breaking when the news reached the EW Popwatch blog last week.

However, Idle Warship does not mark the duo's first time in the studio together. Back in 2000, when Kweli was still recording with beat maker Hi-Tek as Reflection Eternal, Res appeared on the song "Too Late," a track on the group's one and only album Train of Thought (which is absolutely worth checking out even eight long years after the fact).

Take a gander at the group's MySpace, and listen to the first single, "Industry Diary," which apparently is based on some hoopla that went into the making of Alicia Keys' single... wait for it... wait for it... "Diary."

His name Kweli (You mean Talib, lyric sticks to your rib?):

Appearing for one date, and one date only (so far):

February
21 - New York, N.Y. @ Midway NYC
