A Marvin Gaye biopic, titled Sexual Healing, is scheduled to begin shooting in April. Starring Law and Order’s Jesse L. Martin as the iconic singer and Tony Sopr—erm, that is, James Gandolfini, as Gaye’s manager Freddy Cousaert, the film will focus on the last three years of Gaye’s life. This includes his troubled move to Europe in 1981, the recording of the sublime Midnight Love, his eventual return home to battle depression and ultimately, his murder by his father in 1984.
Lauren Goodman will direct the project, which will be shot on location in Hungary and Germany, MTV reports.
