It seems that American music festivals are multiplying faster than animals that multiply very quickly. We wish we could be more specific about which animals, but we’re prejudiced toward music news, rather than biology. Time is money, after all.
At any rate, the latest event to enter the crowded American festivalplace is Rothbury, billed as the “Next Evolution in U.S. Music Festivals.” One could quibble with the wording, since it’s pretty tough to have successive evolutions, but why be haters when the festival is all about good music and better environmental consciousness, right?
Rothbury, which will take place July 3–6, will feature a Think Tank, where informed individuals will discuss climate change and clean energy solutions, and there will be an energy fair. The organizers are also committed to making the event nearly zero-waste, and a nearby school will even receive a free solar panel system.
Oh, and the music? It’s a mix of festival regulars (Dave Matthews Band, Widespread Panic, Phil Lesh and Friends), indie icons (Drive-By Truckers, Of Montreal, Modest Mouse), and Snoop Dogg. See the full line-up right here. Tickets go on sale Feb. 27.
