Dave Matthews Band announces summer tour

Let’s take a look at the accomplishments of the Dave Matthews Band real quick: One of the biggest record sellers in the '90s and '00s. Check. One of the biggest concert draws of the past two decades, even drawing larger crowds than boy bands and pop princesses. Yup. Extremely loyal to its fan base. Indeed. All this adds up to being one of the biggest bands in the world, so it should come as no surprise that when DMB tours, all its shows sell out.

This year, DMB will embark on a vast summer tour across the United States with multiple shows at certain venues, allowing enthusiasts to watch the band several times before its embarks further on its journey. And like this latter-day offspring of the Grateful Dead wasn’t a big enough draw by itself, DMB has invited Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings, Willie Nelson and The Black Crowes along for the ride.

The tour will debut new songs from an upcoming album, the first since 2005’s Stand Up, which debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200. The yet-to-be-titled album, produced by Rob Cavallo, will feature master guitarist and longtime friend Tim Reynolds, whom people will remember as Dave’s partner-in-crime during his acoustic shows. Even better news, he's joining the band on tour as well.

Tickets for the tour go on sale to the general public on March 29, but members of the DMB fan club have the chance to get theirs starting today, proving that the fans come first. It looks like the summer festivals have some competition other than each other this year.
