Daniel Day-Lewis April Fool's Joke

| | Comments (0)

Ladies and gentlemen, if I say that this is crazy news, it's because the following news item was an April fools joke by Slashfilm that got us (and a lot of other film sites) hook, line and sinker:

/Film reported [on April 1... hmmmm] that Daniel Day-Lewis had signed on to play the title role in director Peter Weir’s (Master and Commander, The Last Wave) an upcoming remake of Werner Herzog’s classic Fitzcarraldo.

Herzog himself was to produce the film, which would've been enough to placate remake-phobes, and Mick Jagger, who was originally slated to star in the 1982 original, was to collaborate on the new version’s score. Wow, if that didn’t get you excited [you know, if it was real], you should just stick with Standard Oil.
