Kids in the Hall announce 2008 tour

You could be forgiven for wondering if it's 1994 all over again, what with acronymed acts like NIN and STP headlining festivals, Weezer releasing an album called Weezer and an X-Files movie on the (event) horizon.

But of all the '90s-redux goodies coming up in '08, perhaps the most unexpected—and therefore exciting—one is the (very) quietly announced Kids in the Hall reunion tour, which kicks off this Friday, April 4, in Indiana.

In case the words "I'm crushing your head," "terrier song," "my pen," "the bass player," and a spot of live-action Peanuts dancing don't bring the memories flooding back, the Kids in the Hall are a five-man comedy troupe out of Toronto with a penchant for cross-dressing and brilliantly twisted humor.

Since the last KITH episode aired in 1995, the five members have embarked on mostly separate career paths, coming back together in full for the 1996 KITH movie, Brain Candy, and tours in both 2000 and 2002. In the meantime, Dave Foley starred in the beloved NBC sitcom Newsradio in the late(r) '90s and continues to post highbrow, highly-hilarious sketches on Super Deluxe; Bruce McCulloch released a few albums and recently premiered a new sitcom called Carpoolers on ABC; Kevin McDonald has popped up in guest cameos on That '70s Show and Arrested Development, among many others; Mark McKinney was on Saturday Night Live for a few seasons after the Kids called it quits; and Scott Thompson continues to be his funny, fabulous self in his one-man show, Scottastrophe!

The Kids asked one of their long-time fans to man the MySpace and Facebook pages for the '08 tour, and tickets have already gone on sale (and, in some cases, sold out) for many of the earlier dates. However, there's quite a few fan presales happening for the later dates; where else would you go to find the inside info on the passwords than good ol' LiveJournal?

Disappointed by the lack of music-related infotainment in this article? Well, hold up, there, pardner! Check out this video from this year's SF Sketchfest, in which the five fellows discuss their missed connection with KITH "superfan" Kurt Cobain:
