NBC set to premiere The Office spinoff in 2009

| | Comments (0)

Just about a month and a half ago, we brought you the news that NBC, home of maybe-crazy/maybe-genius co-chairman Ben Silverman, planned to schedule year-round television. For the story, we fortuitously used a photo of The Office cast.

Why fortuitously? Well, yesterday, news surfaced that Silverman and the NBC crew have been in talks about a spinoff show deriving from none other than those crazy Dunder Mifflinites we've come to know and love. According to various sources, it appears quite possible that Dwight K. Schrute, the achingly socially awkward Assistant Regional Manager (or is it more accurately Assistant to the Regional Manager?), very well might be at the center of this new show.

According to The New York Times' Brian Stelter, who live-blogged the unveiling of NBC's 52 week programming in its entirety, the series is set to premiere after the 2009 Super Bowl.

In the meantime, enjoy this great Dwight Schrute moment:
