Marvel Comics magnate Stan Lee has set into motion three projects featuring all new characters whose debut will come not in a comic book, but on the big screen. Walt Disney Pictures and Lee have three film projects to be executive produced by Lee and Gill Champion under their POW! Entertainment production company.
Lee’s comic book characters have lead to feature films in the past including such creations as Spider-Man, the X-Men, the Fantastic Four, the Hulk and more, but the three new film projects, entitled Nick Ratchet, Blaze and Tigress, bring characters and stories never seen in print before. This is apparently a different project than the previously announced Tigress Lee was developing starring Michelle Rodriguez as a Conan the Barbarian-inspired villainess.
Richard LaGravenese (P.S. I Love You) is lined up to direct Nick Ratchet from a screenplay he is writing. Blaze is being written by Gary Goldman (Next), and newcomer Zoe Green is writing Tigress. The studio is not releasing plot details for any of the projects yet. "You have no idea how frustrating that is for me," Lee says. "I love these characters so much and want to talk about them."
These are the first projects under the first-look deal made last summer between POW! and Disney.
