Diane Keaton might have been a bit disappointed that she didn’t get stolen for the American Apparel ad campaign, but she has much greater things to look forward to now that Paramount Pictures has cast her and Steve Martin for One Big Happy.
That’s right—the endearing suburbanite couple from the Father of the Bride films will be reunited in a comedy about overcoming (what else) familial difficulties. Although closely related to the core scheme of Father of the Bride I and II, one would hope that if Paramount paid six figures for it, then it would offer audiences something new.
Party of Five creators Chris Keyser and Amy Lippman penned the script. Most recently they have worked on the rewrite of Here Comes the Bride for Disney, and are currently working on Food Fight for Working Title Films.
Martin’s next film is The Pink Panther 2, and Keaton last appeared in Mama’s Boy. Albeit somewhat worthy pursuits, this next project could be the revival for both actors’ careers. Or at least be enough to score them their very own Yiddish billboard promoting overpriced underwear.
