Calexico will be Carried to Dust this fall

Calexico will release its latest album, Carried to Dust, this fall on Touch and Go/Quarterstick, featuring a revolving door of musicians and special guests.

Carried to Dust is the indie rock/folk/mariachi band’s sixth full-length album, and the follow-up to 2006’s Garden Ruin. The band’s co-founders Joey Burns and John Convertino reassembled the outstanding cast of musicians that filled out 2003’s delightfully eclectic Feast of Wire to provide the album's rich instrumentation. The album also includes guest appearances by Douglas McCombs, Pieta Brown and frequent tourmate Sam Beam (bearded leader of Iron & Wine.)

Calexico and Beam have collaborated in the past, resulting in the 2004 seven-track EP In the Reins. Burns raved about working with Iron & Wine , saying “I think he has a pretty good command of the way things naturally come together. So, whether it’s music or art or film, lyrically he definitely has a good sense of structure and phrasing and breadth and space. I learned a lot from working with him”

The album doesn’t drop until Sept. 9, but the band announced a slew of summer tour dates this week. Calexico will play in the U.S., Canada and Europe beginning in June, and will maintain a steady tour schedule through October.
