Don’t panic. Coldplay’s
“Viva La Vida” North American tour is definitely still on; it’s just happening
slightly later. The trip,
supporting Coldplay’s upcoming Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends, will now begin with two
sold-out shows at The Forum in Los Angeles on July 14 and 15.
The tour was previously set to kick off two weeks earlier, on June 29, but the band cited production delays as the reason for the show shuffle. “We're very sorry, but we promise you a show worthy of your patience and understanding when we start in mid-July,” Coldplay said in a statement. Tickets from the original shows will be honored at the rescheduled dates.
Coldplay’s free show at Madison Square Garden on June 23 (the tickets were already awarded as prizes in a contest) is still on schedule, as are the band’s late night trip to Comedy Central’s The Daily Show With Jon Stewart on June 26 and an early morning appearance on NBC’s The Today Show on June 27.
Viva La Vida, the band’s fifth full-length album, is already making history with its success: it is currently the highest selling pre-order album ever on iTunes. The anticipation will finally end when the disc is released in America on Tuesday (June 17), almost a full month before the new tour schedule kicks off.
