David Gordon Green to direct Your Highness

David Gordon Green has signed on to direct the Universal Pictures comedy Your Highness, Variety reports.

Your Highness tells the story of a lazy, arrogant prince who must set out on a quest to save his father’s kingdom. Green (All the Real Girls and Snow Angels) will begin shooting in January with his college classmate Danny McBride at his side. McBride co-wrote the film’s script with Ben Best, and is set to star as the titular prince.

It’s been a busy year for the both men, whom many critics have declared are breaking out of the indie-film world into the mainstream. Green’s latest directorial effort, Pineapple Express, will hit theaters in August. The film stars Seth Rogen, James Franco and McBride and was produced by prolific filmmaker Judd Apatow (Knocked Up, The 40-Year Old Virgin.)

McBride co-wrote and stars in The Fist Foot Way (in theaters now), and will also appear in Ben Stiller’s Tropic Thunder (August 15). He is currently shooting the latest '70s television show adaptation for the silver screen, dinosaur-adventure series Land of the Lost, with Will Ferrell.
