Dosh dashes across the country

Dosh dashes across the country

If Bravo (or, Lord help us, Fox) were to stop with the dancing/singing/modeling competitions and focus on something more relevant to this modern world—So You Think You Can Multitask?, let's say—Martin Dosh would destroy the competition.

Why? After growing up the son of the most rebellious rebels possible (when they met and fell in love, his father was a Catholic priest and his mother was well on her way to nunhood), Dosh's experimental nature led him first to keyboards and drums, then to samplers and looping pedals, then to following the Dead.

All of this culminated in the Minneapolis-based multi-instrumentalist eventually building a home studio, where he constructs his wordless, layered songs, often with regular Dosh co-conspirator Mike Lewis. Courtesy of Anticon, watch the two of them record "Capture the Flag," the final track from the groovy and awesome Wolves and Wishes, Dosh's just-unleashed fourth LP:

Dosh is currently wrapping up a short jaunt around the U.S. with Anathallo. Before the tour ends, he'll play First Avenue with fellow Minneapolitan P.O.S. and reunite with his loopmaster collaborator Andrew Bird in Colorado. To learn more (much more) about Martin Dosh and his rig/gear setup, sample some Dosh MP3s, and hear how he proposed to his wife via a song on his second album, check out Jeff Severns Guntzel's excellent City Pages profile and accompanying "reporter's notebook" blog
