Jon Favreau spills beans about Avengers line-up
Due to the successes of both Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk, it's been no surprise that Marvel is gunning to make an Avengers film. This is especially true for those of us who sat around a little longer to see the films' cameo appearances from the team. But one thing that has been unknown is the exact formation of the Avengers team, since well over 50 heroes have been included over time.
Well, we may be getting closer to a finalized line-up if Jon Favreau, director of Iron Man, is correct. He told USA Today
in an interview that "the ones Marvel is talking about now are Captain
America, Hulk, Thor, Ant-Man and Iron Man." This means that only two
more films are necessary to get the team together, if online
speculation is correct about Captain America's origin getting cleared up
in the Avengers film itself.
Favreau's comment should probably be taken with a grain of salt, as he's not signed on as the director for Avengers,
and certainly a lot can change between now and 2011 or so. It also
wasn't too hard to guess the rest of the team already, considering
who's famous enough for a film (no hard feelings, Living Lightning). The Ant-Man
feature may seem like the biggest surprise, considering how relatively
unknown the hero is, but Edgar Wright has been talking about his work
on that feature for some time now.
Probably the best news from the story is that Favreau confirms he's on-board for the Iron Man sequel, since he wasn't locked into the project.
