After recently receiving the crushing blow that Jake Gyllenhaal would not be appearing in the sequel to his breakthrough film Donnie Darko, rabbit-seeing psuedo-existential time traveling teens everywhere sighed an angst-ridden collective sigh. (At least, that's what we think they did.) But alas, there may be light at the end of the dreamy Gyllentunnel after all.
Not only has he just been announced as the star of the film adaptation of Jordan Mechner's Prince of Persia video game series, but his long-awaited untitled Dreamworks moon project seems to finally rolling towards production.
The moon project has thus far had multiple false starts, but young Hollywood scribe Dan Mazeau has been hired to rewrite the script, hoping for a proper launch (insert moon joke here). Mazeau will be altering the screenplay director Doug Liman co-wrote with John Hamburg. Black Hawk Down author Mark Bowden also helped rework the script. Liman's interesting film resume thus far includes works such as Swingers, The Bourne Identity and two episodes of The O.C.
