Kung Fu Panda sequel possibly already in the works

Kids martial-arts movies have been known to pack a one-two (or three) punch. 3 Ninjas and The Karate Kid each produced trilogies. And while DreamWorks' Kung Fu Panda may lack such memorable lines as "Rock loves Emily!" or "Wax on, wax off," it appears that another dose of animated ass-kicking is in order.

If you believe in the all-mighty blog, then open your ears (and laptops) for some Panda news. An entry in The Animation Guild (TAG) blog hinted on Tuesday that a story crew at DreamWorks is already drumming up material for a sequel to the movie.

The original flick, which basically delivers Jack Black in panda form, grossed $60 million in its first week, beating out You Don't Mess With the Zohan for the top spot. In line with the ongoing trend of witty animated movies with all-star voiceovers (Shrek, Monsters, Inc. and so forth), Kung Fu Panda draws in audience members of all ages. You can take Paste editor-in-chief Josh Jackson's word for it.

You can still catch the original Panda, now in theaters.
