Chances are, not many are as thankful for the revamping of the NBC sitcom than Aziz Ansari. In the past two weeks, Ansari has signed on for parts in not just one, but two, of the network’s comedies that once again made Thursday nights “Must See TV.”
Ansari, known best as either as one-third of MTV’s former cult-hit Human Giant or as the racist fruit vendor in Flight Of The Conchords, seems to be a busy man these days. Less than a month after the announcement that he'll star as one of the new Sacred Heart interns to endure Dr. Cox’s convoluted rants on Scrubs (Which, incidentally, is moving to ABC. Thanks for the reminder, comments section!), the news comes that Ansari is the first official hire of the highly anticipated and much speculated new Office spin-off.
Little else is known about, well, much of anything surrounding the show. His role has not been disclosed, nor any other actors Ansari will be working with, nor even whether it will be a direct spin-off of the show or simply in the same vein. The new show will be run by Office producers Greg Daniels and Michael Schur (better known as Cousin Mose down on the beet farm).
