Cameron Crowe goes RomCom with Stiller, Witherspoon

June 12, 2008  |  3:22pm
Ben Stiller and Reese Witherspoon have signed on to star in an upcoming movie directed by Cameron Crowe, Variety reports. The as-yet-untitled romantic comedy will be released on Columbia Pictures, after winning a bidding war against four other studios for distribution of the fully developed project.

Crowe is slated to co-produce the film with Scott Rudin; the two will work together for the first time, thanks in part to Columbia's deep pockets. Crowe hasn't worked with Columbia since his 2000 hit Almost Famous. Shooting for the film will begin, as Stiller and Witherspoon's schedules dictate, in January 2009, but the studio is keeping hush-hush about details for the contemporary-set project.
