The Shawshank Reunion to be held in Ohio this August

Conventions for movies are nothing new; they offer obsessives a chance to dust off their favorite costume and nerd it up with others who have just as much of a fixation over their media of choice. Now, a reunion, that's a little more classy. It seems that an anonymous member of the production team of The Shawshank Redemption knows this, because they've organized a get-together for the movie's cast and crew.

The party takes place this August in Ohio, as the event's website details. Anyone who was in any way involved in the production of the movie is invited to this fête, and just because they're nice like that, it's open to the general public too. A few of the events do cost money, like prison and museum tours, and a concert from an as-yet-undisclosed "southern rock band."

This is a pretty good idea, but we all know that the real money would be at a Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas convention. Then again, that may as well be Burning Man.
