"Just imagine you're weightless, in the middle of the ocean surrounded by tiny little sea-horses," Deb tells Uncle Rico in a scene from Napoleon Dynamite. But in his attempt at relaxation, perhaps it would have been easier to put on the Watson Twins forthcoming album, Fire Songs. It has pretty much the same effect as tiny sea-horses, only, you know, musical.
Best known to many as the raven-haired songstresses backing Jenny Lewis on her debut solo album, Rabbit Fur Coat, the Kentucky-bred, L.A.-based Watsons will release their new batch of songs on June 24.
To give their album a better introduction, the Twins will tour across North America this July with co-headliner Tim Fite. The month-long jaunt will start off on July 9 in Washington D.C., wraps up on July 29 in L.A, and includes a Milwaukee stop featuring M. Ward as the headliner.
In the July issue of Paste (hitting newstands soon!), Chandra tells Jeff Leven, "The response of people who have heard [Fire Songs] so far has been really good. I mean it's a little intimidating to throw your little warm baby out into the world and go 'Here ugly world. Look at my pretty baby.'" Luckily for us, this is one sweet baby.
